The Korean International school invites Harold and his friends from the Life Education Activity Program (L.E.A.P.) to the school every year to supplement Health Education Studies in their primary classes. This program enables the students to explore Body Physiology, Nutrition and Drug Information using state-of-the-art technology including audiovisuals, illuminated models of body systems, games, role-playing, a talking brain and Harold the Giraffe. The programs covered this year were Harold\'s Picnic, Air to Live, Food for Life, The Body Journey, The Brainy Bunch, and Internal Affairs. Harold\'s Picnic encouraged the LG1 and Year One students to think about the wonder of their bodies and all the things they can do. Harold helped them to see how they have changed as their bodies have grown and developed. They were eager tell Harold all they knew about the importance of eating breakfast every morning and a variety of foods throughout the day in order to maintain their bodies so they can be active learners. Year Two enjoyed Air to Live which specifically focused on the need to breathe air and that whatever is in the air is taken into our bodies. While scuba diving with Harold\'s friends they examined some other creatures and plants that, like them, need air to breathe. They were busy discussing how the air they breathe is not always as clean as it could be and came up with some suggestions on how people could help clean the air like, no more smoking. When Harold was concerned about an ill friend the Year Threes were eager to tell him all they learned during the Food for Life presentation. They told him all about how the food we eat is taken into the body and made useful. Through a magic journey, they traveled through the digestive system and arrived into the bloodstream. On their Body Journey the Year Fours visited the inside of the body and discovered that the liver has over 500 tasks to perform in order to keep the body working. They focused on one of its major tasks the sorting of food nutrients after food has been eaten. Later, they made a brief visit to an inter-galactic planet named Conformatron where they discussed the importance of individuality. The Year Fives were introduced to The Brainy Bunch which includes the brain, heart, lungs, intestines, muscles and stomach. The Brainy Bunch characters showed them the relationship between the brain and all other body parts. Through role-play situations the children focused on peer pressure situations, both positive and negative. They also learned about the effects of a range of drugs (Analgesics, Bronchodilators, Nicotine and Caffeine) on the body with an emphasis on the safe use of prescribed medications. During Internal Affairs Year Six considered how damaging certain substances such as alcohol and nicotine can be on the internal organs in their bodies. Discussions about peer pressure brought the children to the realization that they can still maintain their individuality and do what they think is right regardless of group norms. The children enjoy a variety of themes, from healthy diet and clean air to how the different body systems work and how drugs, such as nicotine, alcohol and other substances can change the way the body works. K.I.S. wants their students to gain an appreciation and respect for the human body by promoting a healthy lifestyle and saying \"No to drugs.
