Centered around traditional Korean headwear (gat), the performance uses dance to portray the forms, meanings, spirit, and craftsmanship of nine distinct hat styles. From reinterpreting the black gat—historically reserved exclusively for ancient men—from a female perspective, to capturing the process of a scholar painting ink wash art through a pas de deux, to depicting aristocrats wearing the jeongjagwan through the image of a playful, arrogant young nobleman, every chapter is steeped in Korea’s rich cultural heritage.

The original score blends traditional Korean instruments with electronic music, while integrating elements of Korean dance into ballet to spark a whole new synergy.
